Chinese soup party

PoPo threw Aiden a little party for all of the family to meet him - what a day to meet so many new faces and try some very unique and special Chinese soups.

2 months

Well we've had a little hiatus from the blog writing this past month, in part because we've had so much going on. We drove down to Santa Cruz to meet up with the Corniea's, Goren's, Scovatti's and Pops/Mimi at the beach house. Aiden got to meet a lot of new faces including his new cousins and got to experience mom and dad's old stomping grounds (Cookie Co., Pizza My Heart, Planet Fresh Burritos, Blue Lagoon, Spokesman bike shop to just name a few) and we even got to introduce him to some Santa Cruz weirdness. Since the weather has been so nice we've been out exploring some of the trails on Mt. Tam with the new BOB stroller (BTW, if you're reading this and about to have a little one you should definitely plan to get a BOB and Snap 'n Go strollers, they're brilliant at making your life easier). Aiden still loves to cry and turns into what Pops likes to call him the Little Red Man but he has certainly taken on more of a mellow presence as well and he's grown to love his swing and some other gizmos we have around the house especially the ones with things that move in front of his face. He's started to love standing (while supported of course) but hasn't really taken to tummy time yet so we think he'll probably skip crawling and just start running, ha. Mommy has been singing Aiden some songs recently and he absolutely loves that, he coos and smiles, in fact he seems to coo all the time now a days, mommy is doing her best to get the mommy plug in there to have that be his first word so we'll see what actually turns out. We've even had some new visitors of late and even more exciting is that they're both expecting themselves (Andy/Jenn and Ben/Keleigh) - Andy even mastered the calming hold compliments of Dr. Joffey. One other pretty cool thing is that we got a letter from the Obama's and the White House welcoming Aiden to the world.

Happy one month birthday

Hooray, we made it through monthone. The past week got off to a great start Aiden had a good checkup at the doctor and they said he now weighs 8.8 pounds may not seem like a big increase but each pound sure does make a difference when carrying him for hours throughout the day. Daddy uncovered a sleeping book which recommended putting the baby down at 7pm each night and so far it's worked wonders, he's sleeping for much longer periods and only waking up twice a night. Aiden has also been sleeping soundly in the nursery for about a week and a half in his crib, much to the surprise of our pediatrician - atta boy Aiden. We've used the sleep sheep a couple times and it's worked wonders - thanks Murray's. The fam made it through daddy's first week back at work, it was surely a struggle for him to lose out on nap time and it's taking some time to get used to walking around in a half daze from lack of sleep.

We had some visitors this week, PoPo made a couple of appearances take Aiden on a walk around the neighborhood which afforded a little break to to mommy and daddy. Nancy came to visit on Friday and the little man and the ladies enjoyed a nice lunch out. Daddy took Aiden on his first excursion to Osh and Home Depot - would have been great to be a fly on the wall watching the car seat roll through those stores and the heads turning. Dawn came up to visit and Aiden assisted daddy again in making some home made pasta.

The fam went for a little walk around Lake Lagunitas withJay and Allison and we officially got to introduce Aiden to some of the Mt. Tam beauty.

We took Aiden to walk around the farmer's market on Sunday and then to feed the ducks at the Civic Center, what a trooper. Let' see what week 5 brings.

Happy 3 weeks

Happy 3 week birthday to Aiden. We've had a fun filled week. Aiden got his first trip to Lake Tahoe where we did a little hike up to Angora Lakes, had lunch with Mimi at the Keys Marina, swapped some stories with Mike, walked around Camp Richardson and the Beacon and got a taste of Sprouts for lunch with Sarah. He made mommy and daddy so proud one of the nights when he only woke up twice. He is definitely a fan of road trips and conks right out once the engine is fired up. We stopped off in Pollock Pines to see Sheri and the dogs in their new house and to cool off a bit since it was scorching outside.

Aiden got to meet some more friends: Lily, Helen, Tiffany, Ian, Jade, Isabella and Noah.

Aiden got his first taste of a water bath today and after the first bit of surprise wore off he seemed to become a fan of the water which is great.

13 Days

It's hard to believe that Aiden is already almost two weeks old. It's been fun to see what each day brings as we all get to understand each others quirks. Aiden has had a busy week of visitors which has been fun - Mimi, Stacey & Abbey, Vicky, Meg, Allison, Jeff and Jeffrey. Uncle Jordan came up from San Diego for a visit and some quality bonding time.

Aiden's developed a keen liking of the Baby Bjorn carrier which allows him to help daddy with some things around the house - hanging photos, gardening and learning to make pasta from scratch.

We've learned thatAiden loves his car seat and car rides - at least we think he loves them since he quiets down and falls asleep almost immediately - in fact anything with motion seems to put him to sleep. It's been interesting to see mommy attain the magic touch in quieting Aiden and getting him back to sleep after feeding - this magic touch used to only be possessed by daddy but the torch was passed this week.

If you haven't gathered from the theme here, Aiden has gotten a lot of exercise with his pipes this week and we cherish the quiet times like this one napping on daddy's chest.

We took mommy out for a long awaited sushi lunch and Aiden elected to sleep at the table for the entire event allowing mommy and daddy to have a peaceful meal - good boy.

Looking forward to what August has to bring...

First visit to the pediatrician

Aiden had his first pediatrician visit today with Dr. Joffe and got glowing remarks across the board. He weighed in at 8lbs which turns out is remarkable to have gained back his birth weight plus almost another half pound in only 8 days - wow, 8 days, how time flies. Daddy learned a new calming technique for the little one which we'll soon put into practice. Aiden's been keeping daddy very busy today with lots of diaper changes which he almost has down to a science.

Great grandparents visit

Today Yeh Yeh and Yin Yin came to visit with Ricky, Cecelia and Lance. Pretty special that Aiden has great great grandparents that live only a few short miles away. Aiden again joined daddy this morning to watch the finish of the Tour de France and they were both happy that team Specialized took podium finishes. Today marked the first day that the we became the diaper genie is definitely not a gimmick but rather a life saver.
